W1F at the All China Games
As you may well be aware, some of us from the Wushu One Family camp decided to bop on over to Nanjing for the All China Games this year, not only to support our friends from the Beijing Wushu Team, but also to bring you coverage of some of what was going on out there!
The competition was awsome, with some seriously sick skillz on display, and our boy Zhao Qing Jian smacked up the competition to retire on top of his game! Congratulations Qing Jian... You da man!
We have managed to get some pics up in the Photo section for y'all to check out, and make sure you check back for some videos from the competition coming soon... Oh yea, so is that Qing Jian interview!
Wushu One Family and the Outlawz!
The outlaws are a bunch of people who share a passion for the best sport in the world... Wushu. (That's modern wushu by the way). I guess it was down to HK cinema (Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen etc), "Shaolin Monk" performances and stumbling across the Beijing Wushu Team that gets most of us into this sport, and for us it was no different.
All the outlawz train in taolu or Sanshou (some more regularly than others) so we try to keep up to date with whats going on with regard to competition rules and the progression of the sport. Back in 2001 the Outlawz came up with the original concept for Wushu One Family, (also known as W1F). W1F was going to be an online resource for pictures, videos and information, as well as a community of wushu players, coaches and enthusiasts across the globe. It took 2 years for the Outlawz to get around to putting something online ('cos we're that busy)!
The original site was released before it was even completed (back in 2003), but still had some success! Two years on, we decided to put right some things that we didn't like about the original website and release W1Fv2 for 2005.
We would just like to make it clear at this point that W1F is not a school (not yet anyway). In fact the outlawz don't even all train at the same school, and we don't all live in the same country. We are a global community and the changes to this website mean that translation of our content into other languages should be easier (although it is still a huge task, so bare with us). Wushu One Family is a movement that is continuing to evolve in order to spread the word about this great sport.
OK, OK... That all makes us sound a lot bigger than we really are, but that is what we are, the Internet helps us to achieve this. Most of the Outlawz live in the UK, and so we are repin' Europe most definitely, but we've got people in the US, Canada and China as well so lets not limit ourselves. Oh and hopefully now we have you, in what ever country you're in...
If you can think of any way you might be able to contribute, either with content, translations, videos, pictures or ideas please let us know. Otherwise please feel free to browse through the site to learn about the greatest sport on earth, and download our pictures and videos. (Hint, if you right click on videos and "Save As..." you don't have to wait for it to download everytime you want to watch it). If you've got time, drop into the message boards, say "hi" and join in with our wushu related discussions... If you want to know something, just ask a question the family is very friendly.
